The galvanizing process is widely used in the welded mesh fence industry. This process is also divided into hot-dip galvanizing welded mesh fencing and cold-galvanizing welded mesh fencing. What are the differences between the two galvanizing processes?

Let's take a look at the difference between hot-dip galvanizing welded mesh fencing and cold-galvanizing welded mesh fencing. Hot-dip galvanizing welded mesh fencing is immersed in heated molten zinc. The galvanized pipe is gradually plugged into the metal appearance by current monotony in the plating tank. The hot-dip galvanizing process has a fast production speed, a thick galvanized layer and a large consumption of zinc metal. Ordinary galvanizing is slow and the galvanized layer is thin. Cold galvanizing welded mesh fencing  refers to electroplating, which is zinc plated in molten zinc.

The difference between hot-dip galvanizing welded mesh fence and cold-galvanizing welded mesh fence is that the former has poor corrosion resistance and the latter has good corrosion resistance. Hot-dip galvanizing welded mesh fence can be maintained in an outdoor environment for more than ten years, and this process is generally used for steel structures with a small component. Knowing the difference between hot-dip galvanizing and cold-galvanizing, let's look at what is hot-dip galvanizing and cold-galvanizing.

What is hot galvanizing?

Hot-dip galvanizing, also known as hot-dipped galvanizing, melts zinc ingots at high temperatures, puts some auxiliary materials, and then immerses the metal structural parts in a galvanizing bath to attach a galvanized layer to the metal members. The advantage of hot-dip galvanizing welded mesh fence is that it has strong corrosion resistance, and the adhesion and hardness of the galvanized layer are high. The disadvantage is that the price is relatively high, and it is necessary to invest a large amount of equipment and site. The steel structural parts are too large to be placed in the galvanizing tank, and the steel structural parts are relatively thin, and the heat is easily deformed. Zinc-rich paints, which are often referred to as generally speaking, are pseudo-corrosive coatings containing zinc powder.

What is cold galvanizing?

Cold galvanizing is actually electroplating zinc. The cold galvanizing process is used to protect the metal from corrosion. For this purpose, a coating of zinc filler is used, which is applied to the surface of the object to be protected by any coating method, and after drying, a zinc filler layer is formed and dried. The layer has a zinc content of up to 90%. It is suitable for repair work (that is, in the process of repair work, only in the damaged surface of the protected steel, as long as the surface is repaired, it can be recoated). The cold galvanizing welded mesh fence has a small amount of galvanizing, only 10-50g/m2, and its corrosion resistance is much worse than that of hot-dip galvanizing. Therefore, the price of electroplating zinc is relatively cheaper.
